Why I picked the book I am reading?
January 6, 2010
Why I picked marked is because I heard that it was good from a cousin. So far it has been good and the girl in the book has a weird looking mark on her face. In marked some of the words have been hard but I have figured out what the words are. I like the book so far is because it is about vampires and because it also has an advancer in the book. Many of the things that are the book are a little creep and a little weird. there are many things that make this book so good. This book called marked is at almost an adult reading level. There are many different things that have been happening in it there are some weird things.
Select a character and state their goal?

I am going to be talking about the goal that she has. when her and the teacher go in to the dorm she meets her room mate and she the roommate says that they are going to be best friends. All so in the book when she goes to the school in the dinning hall her roommate introduces her to her friends.
11. Who else should read this book? Should anyone not be encouraged to read this book? Why? Would you recommend the book to a friend or fellow classmate?
Any one could read this book. It is mostly for people who like advancer or vampire books. Kids from 0-12 should not read it because they might get scared and there are some bad words. Yes there would be a lot of people who would read this book from the class. I would recommend this book to any of my friends.
Number 7
I thought that in the book that more people would have asked her where she was from and how did she get the coloured in mark.this book does have big words but I can figer out what they mean pretty fast. The words are at my reading level. I really like this book and it is some what exciting. When they are talking about what happened to a guy who’s roommate found out that he was gay. It could have explained why the guy was gay and how his roommate found out.

In this book the character does not really change but at the start Zoey was just a normal kid and then she got marked. Close to the middle she goes and sees that there are other kids and she makes new friends. I have not gotten to the end of the book but from what I read is really good. From what I have read the characters don’t really change that much. But when zoey and her friend are at the cafeteria an other girl asks if she would meet them at the rec hall. When they went in to class the teacher interdosed zoey to the class. I would read this book again and the second time that I read it will sound more clear to me. There is also 7 more books after this. They are all about the same girl.
#2 question
Some of the emotions that I think that they have are sadness, frightens, happy, mad and some time scared. In the book when the kids go to the riterul they are scared that if they don’t became vampires then what would happen to them. At the start zoey was scared of what the mark was and also when she gets it is at school and she is trying to hides the mark. zoey is worried that her roommate might be a horrible person or that she might not like her. When zoey first gets there she is not that happy but once she is invited to a table then zoey is happy. Also when zoey gets to the school every one is looking at her and she is thinking that I must be the weirdoes person at the school. When the teacher is interdusing zoey to every one she feels like she is put on the spot.

The character that I would like to be is Zoeybird. She many be a little weird but she is smart and funny. When she is at the ritual one the the other girls are being mean and zoey trys to keep her thoughts to her self. I think as the reader that she should have told the girl what she is thinking and if the girls kicked her out of the club at lest she would not have to put up with them. When the leader of the group was looking at the mark on her face then she should have asked her what she was looking at. There are many things that I would keep the same but there are some things that I would like to change.

Does the book leave you with questions you would like to ask? What are they? Would you like to direct your questions at a particular character? What questions would you like to ask the author of the book? Are they questions that you may be able to answer by reading more about the author's life and/or works?
This book leaves me with a lot of different questions like does zoey get a boy friend or not. When I was first reading this book called marked I was just wondering if zoey figers out why her mark is colored in and what thing she can do. Why did the author write this book, how long did it take and why did she choose to write a book about vampires. I could read in the back and look at what she said about each thing. When zoey finds the cat in the tree I was wondering what would happen next.

Is there an idea in the book that makes you stop and think, or prompts questions? Identify the idea and explain your responses.
When zoey see a person that was died and then all of a sudden she is there. Zoey thinks that she might be a ghost. What I don’t get is that if she was died then why would she not be hiding. When zoey is looking at her and then two other people come and she is gone. When a guy and a girl come and they start to ask zoey to come with them. Then when zoey is just sitting in the tree just relaxing. Why did zoey go up into the tree and why did she not come down.

Would you like to read more books by this author? Have you already read other books by the author? Why or why not?
I would like to read more about this book and other books that are in the series. I have not read another book by this author but I think that it would be interesting if I could find any other book by the same author. I would like to read more of this book because I like how the author puts things and how she tells it like it is.

Title –woman stuck under ruble
Web site-http://www.cnn.com/2010/LIVING/02/03/haiti.buried.six.days/index.html
Port-au-Prince, Haiti (CNN) -- How do you count six days when you can see neither sun nor stars?
Buried under a crumbled building, Maxi Falon marked time by the roar of tractors and bulldozers, by the sound of voices.
"There's nobody alive in there," she heard them say.
When there was silence, she believed it to be night. But Falon, a deeply spiritual young woman, chanted the Lord's Prayer until she was discovered by Peruvian and Nicaraguan rescuers and pulled out of the rubble of Port-au-Prince's GOC University on January 18.
"I always knew I would keep breathing. I knew I would live," she said. But the miracle of rescue was only the first hurdle.
Sixteen days later, she is struggling to navigate life anew. She bears physical scars as proof of her ordeal. A bandage on her left shoulder. A fractured hipbone. Cuts and scrapes cover her head and arms. It's harder to detect the inner damage of a young woman who gave her all to endure.
What I think-
I am doing my report on Haiti. Why I choose to do this is because it shows that Canada is a good place to live. When the earthquake hit in Haiti it was a huge deal because many people died because of it. I think that it shows us how lucky we are to have the things that we need to live every day. Some things that we have and may take for granted is shelter, Another 2 things are food and water. In Canada ther are things that happen that might not be so great but they are not as bad as when you have nothing like some of the people in Haiti. There are many people who have lost there homes and mostly all of their clothing. They don’t even have the medical things that they need. Unlike the people in Haiti’s we have clothing and a family sho are still alive to go to. When the girl was stuck under ruble it was like when I fell off and got stuck under the tube. Under the tube it isn’t near as bad but it feels scary, like you are all alone and like something really bad might actually happen to you.
